To the EditorIn terms of being endemic in our country, hydatid cyst still constitutes a major clinical issue.1 To enrich the literature with new researchs and reviews on hydatid cysts is very useful. We read with interest Tokur and colleagues’s review titled “Complicated hydatid cyst of the lung”.2 Although this review strengthens the literature and summarizes the complications of pulmonary hydatid cysts quite well, we need to add our opinions on some points.
One point we want to specify is the classification of complications. As is known, surgical procedures to pulmonary hydatid cysts may result in complications.1 In this respect, classifying the complications as preoperative and postoperative complications would be a more accurate approach according to us.
Another point we want to mention is that figures do not take place in the text. If a more detailed description of the figures had been made, the pictures would have been more meaningful and useful. For example; images of a pulmonary embolism case due to hydatid cyst, which is a rare condition, were given in Figure 8 and Figure 9, but there is no adequate explanation about the phenomenon and the figures did not reach their objective.
As a result, we suggest that Tokur and colleagues’s review about this important issue, would be useful for clinicians. We want to emphasize the necessity of new researches about hydatid cyst, which is still an important clinical entity in our country.
